The key aim of this research is to gain a detailed understanding of the current and future training and learning needs of employers in the North West food and drink manufacturing industry and thus ensure that the programmes and networks the National Skills Academy develops are indeed relevant, in so far as they focus on the training and learning areas that employers need most, which are often the hardest to cater for, and also excellent, in terms of the benefits they bring to both the employer and the learner.
